EDMOND, OK -  A mercaptan leak from a delivery truck caused a natural gas odor that had dozens of residents calling 9-1-1 to report the smell Monday. The Leak prompted the brief evacuation of several nearby businesses and a nursing home while emergency workers tried to find the source of what they believed was a natural gas leak.  Mercaptan is the chemical added to natural gas to give the gas its rotten egg odor. Mike Magee, interim director of Emergency Management for the city, said the 9-1-1 center received "dozens" of calls complaining of the natural gas odor. ---- DREW HARMON, The Edmond Sun - Wal-Mart employees and customers evacuate the store at Broadway and 33rd Street Monday morning because of a strong smell of natural gas in the area. The smell which was caused by a chemical leak in a truck that left the area, caused the evacuation of several local buildings.
